    Thanks for the heads-up. Tesla does generate a lot of attention in the press, so I thought it was already making a profit. Guess not.

    I dont agree that it may never move beyond niche stage. Battery costs are decreasing steadily, hence their profits will be increasing. The tipping point may be just a few years away when electric cars will be competitive price wise with gasoline cars, buyers will see they can say goodbye to gas stations, thousands spent on gas and see a modest uptick in electric bills ($20pm) and a decrease in service costs (oil, filter, spar plugs, brakes,etc etc). However with Tesla its hard to seperate the heavy capex from operating, so valuation is tough hence I am on the sidelines
