A Member of Pat McKeough’s Inner Circle recently asked for his advice on a junior gold exploration company that is seeking out prospective projects in Eastern Canada.
Pat notes that the company’s flagship project is adjacent to a very popular Newfoundland gold project. Still, it’s currently a long way from outlining a gold resource.
Q: Any thoughts on Labrador Gold? I realize it would be risky compared to established gold companies.
Labrador Gold Corp., $0.46, symbol LAB on the Toronto Venture Exchange (Shares outstanding: 57.0 million; Market cap: $26.2 million; www.labradorgold.com), is a Canadian-based mineral exploration company that acquires and explores prospective gold projects in Eastern Canada.
The company is currently focused on its Kingsway gold project, which covers 77 square kilometres in the Gander gold district of Newfoundland. This project is adjacent to New Found Gold’s Queensway project and just 4.5 kilometres to the northeast of New Found’s discovery of a 92.86 grams/tonne deposit.
(Note that deposits on adjacent or nearby properties is encouraging, but not necessarily indicative of the deposits on the company’s property).
Past gold exploration in the area has shown significant gold anomalies. That suggests the property could host its own significant gold deposits. Labrador Gold has now targeted areas of potential gold mineralization for follow up during its summer work program.
Inner Circle: Cash in the bank but more shares added
The company has recently taken advantage of rising gold prices—and its higher share price—to issue shares. As a result, it now has a high cash balance of $7.1 million.
But more shares dilute the value of existing shares.
Labrador Gold’s early-stage identification of exploration targets is a long way from outlining a gold resource large enough to support a mine. However, additional promising findings could spur further gains.
