The company (New York symbol ADT; TSINetwork Rating: Extra Risk) (www.adt.com; Shares outstanding: 767.0 million; Market cap: $6.4 billion; Dividend yield 1.8%) is now forming a joint venture with Ford Motor Co. The joint venture, called Canopy, aims to enhance vehicle security.
Canopy will provide AI-powered, connected security cameras and a mobile app for a variety of vehicle makes and models. It will combine Ford’s AI-driven video camera technology with the “Safe by ADT” platform. The system will provide professional monitoring to help businesses protect valuable equipment in vehicles and help individual owners strengthen security inside and outside vehicles.
Canopy plans to launch its security systems with available professional monitoring early next year. From there, it expects to expand its offering to other manufacturers apart from Ford.
