CRS Electronics Inc., $0.63, symbol LED on Toronto (Shares outstanding: 23.4 million; Market cap: $14.7 million), makes indoor and outdoor lighting systems that use light emitting diode (LED) technology. LEDs are brighter, need less maintenance and use less electricity than incandescent, halogen or fluorescent tube lighting. The company also makes LED lights for school buses and other vehicles. CRS is based in Welland, Ontario. It became a public company on May 25, 2009, and began trading on May 26 at $0.305 a share. Insiders control about 67% of the shares. In the three months ended June 30, 2009, CRS lost $266,874, or $0.01 a share. That was mainly because it gave its employees stock options when it became a public company. This cost CRS $178,270. A year earlier, the company earned $87,970, or $0.01 a share. Sales fell 17.0%, to $651,353 from $784,362.
