Cardero Resources, $2.03, symbol CDU on Toronto (Shares outstanding: 58.7 million; Market cap: $119.1 million; www.cardero.com), recently sold its Pampa de Pongo iron deposit in Peru to Chinese interests for $100 million U.S. It also aims to sell its Iron Sands Project in Peru.
Cardero is using the cash from the sale to buy interests in small mining companies, including Kria Resources, Wealth Minerals Ltd., Trevali Resources. However, the success of these speculative ventures remains uncertain.
