Clearwater Seafoods, $11.73, symbol CLR on Toronto (Shares outstanding: 55.0 million; Market cap: $645.2 million; www.clearwater.ca), is one of North America’s largest seafood companies and Canada’s biggest holder of shellfish licences and quotas. It gets 37% of its sales from Asia, 32% from Europe and 31% from North America. In July 2015, the company launched its state-of-the-art factory clam vessel, the Belle Carnell. The $65-million ship is the largest single investment in Clearwater’s history and will harvest Arctic surf clams, cockle clams and propeller clams year-round. In the three months ended October 3, 2015, the company’s revenue rose 9.9%, to a third-quarter record of $147.3 million from $134.1 million a year earlier. Overall cash flow gained 24.1%, to $31.2 million from $25.1 million, while cash flow per share increased 18.2%, to $0.52 from $0.44, on more shares outstanding.
