Pat: What are your thoughts on Copper Mountain Mining?

Copper Mountain Mining, $1.52, symbol CUM on Toronto (Shares outstanding: 98.6 million; Market cap: $150.8 million; www.cumtn.com), owns 75% of the Copper Mountain open-pit copper-gold-silver mine in B.C. The company’s stake in this project is its main asset. Japan’s Mitsubishi Group owns the remaining 25%. Copper Mountain restarted the former Similco mine (now named the Copper Mountain mine) in mid-2011 but has struggled to bring the project to full capacity. Most recently, one of the transformers powering its ore-grinding mill failed, cutting production by half in the latest quarter. Still, the company is steadily resolving its operational issues, and by next year the mine could produce as much as 91 million pounds of copper, 27,000 ounces of gold and 238,000 ounces of silver annually. The company’s cash flow per share is forecast at $0.64 this year but as high as $1.16 in 2014. The shares have moved down since early this year along with most mining stocks.
