The company believes this technology works with little effect on other parts of the body, because it only targets the affected area. That avoids the possible side effects of oral medication, such as high blood pressure and ulcers. Nuvo changed its name from Dimethaid in October 2005.
Nuvo’s main product is Pennsaid, a lotion for arthritis pain. The company markets Pennsaid as equal to the maximum daily dose of comparable oral medication at relieving pain and stiffness associated with osteoarthritis of the knee. It also claims that Pennsaid has fewer negative side effects.
