A: Canadian General Investments Ltd., $43.30, symbol CGI on Toronto (Units outstanding: 20.9 million; Market cap: $905.4 million; www.mmainvestments.com), is a closed-end fund that mainly invests in shares of Canadian companies that it sees as average or above-average quality. Established in 1930, it is one of the oldest closed-end investment companies in North America. It has been managed since 1956 by Morgan Meighen & Associates Limited. The fund’s largest holdings are Nvidia Corp. at 5.5%; Shopify., 6.2%; Canadian Pacific Railway, 3.7%; Franco-Nevada Corp., 3.6%; West Fraser Timber, 3.5%; First Quantum Minerals, 3.4%; TFI International, 3.3%; Descartes Systems Group, 2.9%; WSP Global, 2.8%; and Lightspeed Commerce, 2.7%.
