KYNDRYL HOLDINGS INC., $31.32, New York symbol KD, is still a hold. The company took its current form in November 2021 when International Business Machines Corp. (New York symbol IBM) spun off its legacy business of helping corporate and government clients manage their datacentres. Investors received one Kyndryl share for every five IBM shares they held. The stock fell 12% this week in response to a report from short-seller Gotham City Research that accused the company of manipulating its payments to IBM to boost its earnings and cash flow. Kyndryl has denied these allegations. Even so, the stock will likely remain depressed until the company fully addresses these issues. Meantime, its earnings continue to suffer as it winds down the low-margin contracts it inherited from the former parent. Kyndryl is still a hold.
