Joe Biden, of all people, led the parade. He invited President-elect Trump and his First Lady to join him in the White House. In the televised part of that meeting, he treated the President-elect as he might treat, say, a beloved grown-up grandson who made him proud.
Joe didn’t seem bothered that Mrs. Trump chose not to attend. She isn’t setting foot in the White House until the Bidens have cleared out and the place has been given a top-to-bottom cleaning. She is still outraged at the fact that officers of the U.S. federal government had the gall to dig through the contents of her underwear drawer when they barged into the Trump bedroom toward the end of his first term as President.
